In order to further implement the innovation-driven development strategy and implement the major decision-making arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, academic institutions and students are encouraged to conduct scientific research with an industry focus, a market orientation, and a deep integration of industrial research, development, application and innovation. Efforts are made to promote the efficiency of technological innovation transformation, build a talent exchange platform for the fields of Nanfan and deep-sea technology, and promote industrial innovation and development in the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. Additionally, efforts are made to accelerate the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.

Recently, with the theme of "Talents in Free Trade Port, Innovation For Yazhou- Bay", the first "Yazhou-Bay Cup" Science and Technology Innovation Competition was held in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. This competition was launched to mobilize participation from academic institutions and students stationed in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City.

It is reported that this competition started from the technical development and cross-domain applications and integration in the fields of Nanfan and deep-sea technology. Two competition tracks were established: self-selected topics and enterprise-selected topics. Each track had three major themes: Nanfan technology, deep-sea technology, and other Integrated Themes. A total of six competition groups were set up, each with online preliminary rounds and offline finals. The finals will be held in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, where the cash reward for winning projects is as high as 4.46 million yuan. In the future, supporting projects will also be provided such as project incubation, priority declaration for talent plans, housing subsidies application,etc.

The final and award ceremony: June, 2022

Competition Conditions

● Students who are in the scientific research institutions within Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in Sanya are eligible to apply. It is encouraged to organize teams from differnet disciplines and different universities.

● Projects related to deep-sea technology and Nanfan technology should comply with the development plan of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. Other comprehensive themes should comply with the 《Catalogue of Encouraged Industries in Hainan Free Trade Port (2020 Edition)》. Only one project can be selected for each theme and team. There are no duplicate entries for the same project.

● The products, technologies, and intellectual property rights of the projects must have no disputes.

Registration Method

At least three members and up to ten members are allowed to register, and there is no registration fee for the competition. The official website is the only channel for registration, and other registration channels are invalid.
