On  March 3, the member of the CPC HEU Standing Committee and vice president Yu Zhiwen visited the Nanhai Institute, listened to the work reports and had a discussion with the leading staff.

Yu Zhiwen pointed out that HEU attaches great importance and pays close attention to the development of Nanhai Institute, which should target national and local development needs and continuously enhance its contribution to national strategies and local economies. It should make full use of the advantages of the policies of Hainan Free Trade Port, find the right entry point in talent training, scientific research, international exchange and cooperation. In terms of establishing a full-time teaching faculty, Nanhai institute should take the initiative to plan, dare to break through and enhance the support for the university's discipline construction. According to the requirements of the Party Committee of the HEU, in 2023, Nanhai Institute should focus on "grasping implementation and promoting transformation", and promote the implementation of the "five three-year action plans".

Yu Zhiwen also visited the exhibition hall of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City to learn more about the planning and construction of YZBSTC, accompanied by the leaders of Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration Bureau and Nanhai Institute.
